Um, yeah, that probably doesn’t sound quite right. My BLOG post-where has time gone? These little blurbs that start in my head and never make the journey through my typing fingers into posting in my blog.
And speaking of lost ideas, are you someone who loses *stuff*? I generally consider myself someone who doesn’t lose things, as evidenced by the fact that I still have many of the books, pictures, and small trinkets that have moved from college dorm to apartment to apartment to house with me since leaving my hometown after high school.
But day to day, it seems my keys bounce from place to place, my cell phone has disappearing properties (we are all just atoms after all) my wallet can teleport itself into different rooms, and I seem to lose socks. This latter one, I realize, is the ill fate of many a paired foot stocking, and I’ll not take it up for further discussion.
But the others…there are many tips online about how to be less forgetful. My teacher has a wonderful lesson about these times are actually providing us with opportunities to remember that we have ceased paying attention, or that these are reminders to attend next time. To be sure, I’m getting better at putting my keys in exactly the same place when I get home, putting my cell phone in the same pocket of my coat, and making a big ‘ole mental note about where I put my wallet down.

It’s all about taking just that one second to breathe and pay attention. It’s another way of mindfulness, really. Taking the time to mindfully place an object, and to notice its location before rushing off to the next thing. Multitasking doesn’t help, so when the potential to lose an item is at stake, finish that one task and make a conscious transition on to the next one.
And with ideas, jot them down before they fly away. Note to self: start that draft…it’s so much closer to the actual post.
