The fall schedule is in for Central Street Yoga. New classes – Ashtanga on Tuesdays and a renamed morning yoga class, and Yin/Yang, and meditation. The evening classes continue. Fall is such a time of back to school, or new to school-new to yoga classes. A time to enroll in something for the self and the spirit. A daily yoga practice does so much to compliment cycling and weight lifting (my current sports of choice), and the internal benefits of meditation and yoga are astounding. The other day on a very quick (I had 45 minutes to get the loop done) ride, I found myself locating a sense of inner calm that I completely attribute to recent yoga and meditation practice. I was very aware that my quads and glutes were very engaged and working really hard. And periodically my lungs would get into the game. But the mental calmness that accompanied these physical sensations was so great. No anxiety about getting the loop done, no nervousness about big ‘ole trucks whizzing by, no mind wandering-just solely focused on the road and moving myself through space. I heart bike riding.
